“My Talent Arts Eisteddfod” formerly known as “Midrand Lebone Schools Play Festival. My Talent Arts Eisteddfod is an arts eisteddfod planned for inspiring community artists in youth clubs, arts studios and township schools who don’t have arts activities (Drama, Dance, Music and Visual Arts) in their school curriculum. Baobulb Drama Academy work in partnerships with private schools in the suburb of Midrand where parents can afford to pay tuition fees for their children to attend arts classes, However In townships in Ivory Park, Ebony Park, Diepsloot, Rabie Ridge and Kaalfontien, the entire Region A of the City of Johannesburg and surrounding Areas. Schools don’t do arts activities whether as a subject in class or as an extra curriculum activity not even sports activities these days. These are areas which are burdened by high levels of drugs and crime amongst the young people. The pupils are exposed to all sorts of mischievousness after school and on weekends where there is nothing keeping them engaged. Through “My Talent Arts Eisteddfod” Baobulb is trying to reach out to those who can’t afford to participate in eisteddfods in town, those who can’t afford to attend arts lessons at arts studios like ours in town, to schools who can’t afford or are just reluctant to hire Artists to work as arts Coaches with their learners. Private schools in town have Drama Teachers, Music Teachers and Visual Arts Teachers, but unfortunately township schools are somehow compromised in these areas. The eisteddfod is also mean to attract and invite tourists to some of the region’s leading venues, tourism sites and just cultural exchange purposes amongst our people.
